If you enjoy spending time in the kitchen, you may have a nice collection of herbs and spices that you use when creating your culinary creations. There are certain herbs that people tend to stay away from either because of sheer smell or taste, like cilantro for example, which some say has a “soapy” flavor. Similarly, tarragon, has a very strong licorice or anise taste, which many may really enjoy or simply try to avoid at all costs. For those who don’t mind an anise flavor, tarragon falls into the same category as rosemary, basil, and parsley. These herbs give a nice boost to your taste buds, but they also have amazing health benefits as well.

Tarragon is loaded with nutrients, although people don’t usually use herbs in large enough quantities to affect their daily requirements for vitamins and minerals. But of course, every bit helps, and if you make tarragon a part of your diet, you will receive vitamin C, B6, riboflavin, folate, manganese, potassium, magnesium, calcium, and iron. This herb packs a nice punch!

This licorice flavored herb, when extracted, has some great effects on those who suffer from diabetes, improving insulin sensitivity, increasing fatty acid oxidation, enhancing glucose uptake, and influencing other metabolic efficiency. It can also have anti-inflammatory effects on the cellular level. This herb has also traditionally been used as a pain reliever and relief from gastrointestinal discomfort.

So, if you are interested in adding this herb to your recipes, you can consider tarragon mustard chicken or tarragon chicken with spinach. It also goes well with fish and seafood, such as salmon and broiled shrimp cocktail. Tarragon can also be used in breakfast dishes such as omelets and quiches.
