With warmer temps on their way, baseball fans are excited for the season upon us. Many of us have fond memories as children watching our favorite home team and cheering them on from the stands. And what would an experience at the ballpark be without ballpark snacks! Snacks like popcorn, nachos, and of course, peanuts!
Unfortunately, as far as peanuts go, not everyone is able to enjoy those salty treats nor the butter they are made from because of an allergy. For the last several years it seems peanut allergies are on the rise and are putting parents of children with the allergy in panic mode since it can actually cause anaphylactic shock. Although a majority of people who suffer from a peanut allergy will have to deal with it their whole lives, studies have shown that 20% of children will eventually outgrow the allergy. Studies also suggest that pregnant women who consume peanuts may protect their children from forming an allergy to the food and increase a tolerance for peanut allergens.
For those who are not allergic to peanuts can enjoy their vast benefits, a list that is quite impressive for a legume. They are high in vitamin E, thiamin, niacin, folate, monounsaturated oleic acid, omega-6, and pantothenic acid. Peanuts also provide great amounts of iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc, copper, and manganese.  Although peanuts are low in the essential amino acids methionine, tryptophan, and histidine, their amino acid content is fairly decent for such a tiny food.
If you are fortunate enough to not suffer from a tree nut allergy, peanuts are an inexpensive way to support your over-all health. They are an easy way to incorporate protein, healthy fat, and essential nutrients to your daily diet, and they are a tasty treat too!

Dr. Wipperman is friendly, knowledgeable and really cares about your health. The excellent information he has to share about your spinal health is more than you might expect! His staff is warm and friendly, and really helpful. While I started seeing Dr. Wipperman for one specific problem, over the course of my care, I am truly seeing the benefits to my overall health. I highly recommend Ballas Chiropractic!
